Where to go for a trip with your dog: Hořice (Podkrkonoší) 10 km

Thanks for the post Pavel!

The route is 10 km (that's what we went, but it can also be shorter if anyone wants to). The route leads along an unpaved asphalt road and unpaved forest roads. The whole route can be completed comfortably with children, a stroller would not be able to do it. The road follows marked hiking trails, but we went off them a few times to enjoy nicer views and avoid the crowds.

Place

The route starts and ends in the city of stone beauty, in Hořice . So when you have bought enough mountain tubes for the whole family, drive to the Gotthard hill, where there is a large parking lot next to the soccer field. Before starting the route down, it is nice to go up and look at the monumental cemetery portal. It's worth it. Or you can keep it as a reward for the trip, and jump here before leaving, but definitely not to miss.

Attractions

Mount Gothard is an open-air gallery. We descend down the red hiking trail, but you can walk through the meadow between the statues and the cherry orchard. The path then follows the road down to the river, but if there is no tall grass, you can follow the footpath in the meadow above the road. The forest stream is an ideal place for bathing dogs. From the signpost, green tourist markings lead us through beautiful forest paths. Sometimes it really is just a short walk. Follow the green road to the parking lot at the swimming pool in the village of Dachovy.

The way back to Hořice leads along the yellow road, but we leave it and go around the swimming pool from the back so that we can admire the view of the romantic natural swimming pool with remarkable wooden architecture from the 1920s. When we meet the yellow tourist again, we say goodbye to her again and climb the Flégl trail. The yellow one leads along the asphalt, a cycle path, but higher up in the forest there is a footpath parallel to it, the Flégl path, where we are alone. When we come across yellow tourist signs again, we leave them for a while and go for a spin through the sandstone quarries. On the way back to the car, we will still go around the Gothard mountain and go to the local park, Smetanovy sady. Here are the most beautiful sculptures, and especially the famous Krakonoš.

Refreshment

At the start there is a small but good pub near the course. Down below the Gotthard there is a pastry shop and in the village of Dachovy, just a few meters from the route, there is another pub. There is plenty of water for dogs everywhere.
