The Hostivice Ponds are a peaceful oasis just a short drive from the city centre. This trip is perfect for days when you don’t feel like packing a backpack for an all-day dog trekking adventure, but a simple walk around the neighbourhood just isn’t enough.
Where does the route go and what can you expect?
The basic loop starts at Litovický Pond and takes you around the water areas of Kala Pond and Břevský Pond. One of the biggest advantages of this area is its flexibility. You don’t need to follow a strict route - you can adjust the walk depending on your mood, the weather or your dog’s fitness level.
Choose a quick 5 km walk, or extend the route and explore more of the surrounding ponds.

Watch out during spring nesting season: The Hostivice Ponds are an important refuge for water birds, with several species nesting here during spring. If your dog has a strong hunting instinct, keep them close and under control around the reeds.
The secret to a great visit: When should you go?
Experienced dog owners know the biggest challenge of this location. Because it’s close to Prague and naturally beautiful, it can get busy during popular walking hours - especially on weekdays after 4 PM and around midday on weekends.
For a quieter experience, try visiting early in the morning or outside peak times.
